The following are courses that can be taken at Northeast Community College to fulfill general education requirements at Wayne State College. If no equivalency exists for a Wayne State College course, that course was not included in this list. Please see Wayne State College's catalog for a complete listing of course selections for general education requirements.


I. Composition (6 semester hours required)

A. ENGL 1010
B. SPCH 1010

II. Mathematics & Science (9 semester hours required)

A. MATH 1100, 1150, 1200***, 2000 or any other higher MATH listed on course equivalency table; *MATH 2050, **MATH 1010 (3 hours required)
B. BIOS 1010 (with lab) or BIOS 2020 (3 hour lab science required - choose one)

C. CHEM 1140 (with lab) or any other lab-oriented Chemistry, Physics, or Earth Science listed on course equivalency table
(3 lab science hours required - choose one)
***Students may enroll in the first three (of five possible) credits to meet this requirement.
**Elementary Education majors only
*Non-teaching Business majors only

 

III. Fine Arts & Literature (7 semester hours required)


A. ARTS 2000 or ARTS 2010 (2 hours required - choose one)
B. MUSC 1550 (2 hours required)
C. ENGL 1020, 1520, 2100, 2110, 2120, 2150, 2160, 2200, 2210, 2720, 2730 (3 hours required - choose one)

IV. Understanding World Heritage (12 semester hours required)


A. HIST 1030, 1040, 1050, 1060 (3 hours required - choose one)
B. HIST 2010 or 2020 (3 hours required - choose one)
C. POLS 1000, or ECON 2110 or GEOG 1020 (3 hours required - choose one, GEOG 1020 required for Elem. Ed. students)
D. FREN 1200 or SPAN 1200, or any other advanced language class listed on the course equivalency table (3 hours required - choose one)

V. Living In the Modern World (12 semester hours required)

A. 3 hours required in Wayne State College's ITE 320 course - No Northeast course equivalent
B. HPER 1500 (2 hours required)
C. HPER 1180 to 1360 from Basic Sports Series (1 hour required - choose one)
D. SOCI 1010 or PSYC 1810 (3 hours required - choose one)
E. 3 hours required in WSC's PHI 300 course - No Northeast course equivalent

Total General Education credits required at Wayne State College = 46 semester hours


In addition to the 46 hours above, students will achieve a level of computer literacy as determined by the division of the student's major.
