If I take courses at Northeast Community College, will they transfer to Briar Cliff College?

This question is asked by every Northeast Community College student who plans to transfer. The following information should set your mind at ease.

Northeast Community College Associate of Arts & Science Degrees

The NECC Associate of Arts and Science degree transfers to Briar Cliff College as 60 semester credit hours earned toward a Briar Cliff College bachelor's degree. NECC students with Associate of Arts and Science degrees have junior standing upon enrollment at Briar Cliff College. An evaluation of the NECC transcript will identify specifically which requirements for the bachelor's degree have been met and which requirements remain.

It is important you realize that one-half of your four-year degree must be completed at a four-year college. Since BCC requires 120 semester credit hours to graduate, 60 of those semester credit hours must be taken at a four-year college. For a Briar Cliff degree, at least 30 semester credit hours must be completed at Briar Cliff; and the last 30 semester credit hours must be completed at Briar Cliff.

Individual Arts & Science Courses

All Arts and Science courses taken at Northeast Community College will transfer to Briar Cliff College. If a NECC Arts and Science course is not listed in this transfer agreement as meeting a Briar Cliff general education requirement or a requirement for a Briar Cliff major, it will count as an elective.

Programs and Individual Courses

Credit for other courses taken in the Vocational Technical/Occupational division at NECC will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Courses comparable to Briar Cliff College courses may be accepted as electives or may fulfill other requirements subject to approval of the appropriate Briar Cliff department and/or registrar. Courses not comparable to Briar Cliff courses, but having significant college-level content, will be considered for elective credit.

To have additional transfer questions answered call the Admissions Office at Briar Cliff College, 1-800-662-3303, Extension 5200.

Every effort is made to ensure that the information in this articulation agreement is accurate. However, as changes are made to either college catalog, this articulation is also subject to change.

Each individual student transcript(s) is evaluated by the Registrar at Briar Cliff College to determine the courses that will transfer for credit. Please contact an admissions counselor at Briar Cliff College if you have any questions.
