Scholarships and Grants

Northeast Community College offers students a number of scholarships, tuition waivers, and performance grants established by the College, by the Northeast Community College Foundation, and private organizations and individuals.  Qualifications, deadlines, and amounts vary.

The Northeast scholarship application process is separate from the federal and state aid application process.  Student must complete an online scholarship application which is due by February 1st each year. When scholarships are need-based, the FAFSA on file is used to assist the NECC Scholarship Selection Committee in the selection of recipients.

New scholarships are frequently available during the academic year and information is placed on the website, in the racks outside the Financial Aid Office, and in the “What’s Happening” student newsletter.

Tuition Waivers and Grants

In addition to the many scholarships offered at Northeast, the following tuition waivers and performance grants are available:

Board of Governors
The Northeast Community College Board of Governors offers a half-tuition scholarship to an outstanding senior in each high school within the college ’s 20-county service area.  Selection is made by the high school.  A limited number of Board of Governors scholarships are also awarded to selected Northeast Adult Education graduates who earn high school diplomas through GED testing.

Department Performance Grants
Department Performance Grants in athletics, drama, journalism, livestock judging, music, and speech/forensics are awarded in limited numbers through individual departments.  Please contact the individual department on how to apply.
